For educational institutions at all levels, we have a proud
track record of providing design, procurement and construction
supervision services. This experience includes classrooms, lecture
theatres, performance halls, teaching rooms, laboratories, computer
rooms, libraries, restaurants, offices, student centres, service
areas, operating theatres and the like. The institutions have
ranged from primary schools, through second level schools to third
level institutions such as universities and institutes of
technology and the services provided include civil, structural and
building services.
The award of multiple commissions from the third level sector is an
indicator of our capability. For example we have been involved with
the Student Centre, the Applied Social Sciences Building, the
Medical, Nursing, Therapies & Crèche Complex at Brookfield, the
Alfred O’Rahilly building (both phases), the Dairy and Food Science
facilities, the National Microelectronics Centre, and the Boole
Library – all for University College Cork, while the projects for
Cork Institute of Technology have included the CIT Student Centre,
the Innovation Centre, the Gym refurbishment, and a variety of
other refurbishment and extension projects.
Our involvement with second level and primary level schools goes
back over 40 years and includes a long list of new build, extension
and refurbishment projects right around the country.
In addition to the traditional roles, we have experience in the
role of contractor’s designer for education projects procured by
means of Public Private Partnership (PPP). These have included the
Third Level Institutions PPP Project where we were appointed as
lead consultant for the Technical Advisor’s role for 9 third level
institutions throughout Ireland, Cork School of Music, a “bundle of
schools” project and the National Maritime College project where we
were responsible for the design of the marine facilities.
